We’ve all heard that change is the only constant. How is it that I forget that little gem each time I utter, “Wonder why I feel so tired today?” Each day presents a new opportunity to change something. ”I’m not wacky for my hair. Wonder what’s next?” ”I’m tired of chicken for dinner – how about a new recipe?” “The dog is itching allot - think I’ll try her on new food.” Dozens of small changes occurring throughout our days.
Then there’s the whoppers. Moving Mom’s across the country, putting your house on the market, working on a new and unknown project, getting new employees, sick children and on it goes. Life is a daily evolution of my soul. Evolution indeed is synonymous with change. Change takes additional energy, bravery, thinking power, cleverness and flexibility. So occasionally when I feel tired from the inside out it’s often because it was a record breaking week, day or hour of change. So rather than beat myself up for not having it more together, I realize that I need to give myself a gold star and a pat on the back. What’s the alternative? Discontinue my evolution? Eat the same salami sandwich every day? Keep my hair the same color for two years in a row? I think not.
With an open, exciting, growing life comes change and with change comes additional energy requirements. I’ve noticed it takes even MORE energy to resist change and stay in situations that are long overdue for an over haul. Sometimes it time to stop scraping the toast and buy a new toaster. I choose life. I choose change. I choose more chocolate to give me that afternoon energy boost so I’m ready for the next hunk of change . That’s it – “Chocolate for Change.” It’s my new mantra.
What’s your change mantra? Love to hear.
